This exquisite edition is not only characterized by its long maturation, but also by the deep-rooted tradition that goes with the story of Donald Johnston, the co-founder of the distillery.
The single malt has been matured for more than three decades in carefully selected American oak casks and in former European oak sherry hogsheads. This combination gives the whisky remarkable complexity and depth. A powerful bouquet of peaty aromas unfolds on the nose, accompanied by sweet sherry notes and a gentle vanilla note, which is enhanced by the oak. The first impression on the palate is intense and full-bodied, with a harmonious interplay of smoky and fruity components. Notes of dried fruit, caramel and a subtle spiciness emerge, while the powerful peat smoke gives the experience an unmistakable signature.
