Benriach 2010/2023 Cask #08036 Berry Bros & Rudd
Benriach Distillery near Elgin is just minutes from its sister distillery, Longmorn. The distillery was established in 1898 during the height of the Victorian whiskey boom.
This lively Speyside whiskey has spent the last two years of its life in a sweet ex-Pedro Ximénez cask. This gives it a flavorful nose full of gooey gingerbread, clove rock and liquorice. A little water elicits juicy Bartlett pear notes and a hint of unripe mango. The palate is a bit dry at full strength, offering ginger, pepper and sweet plum wine. A little time and dilution reveals a more complex dram with layers of fruit, spice and hints of oak. This is a full-bodied whiskey perfect for enjoying after dinner alongside dessert.
