Located on the Isle of Skye's Minginish peninsula, Talisker Distillery is an island-based single malt Scotch whiskey distillery headquartered in Carbost, Scotland. The distillery is operated by Diageo and their Classic Malts range has chosen Talisker 10 year old whisky. The product is considered a high-end single malt whiskey.
Hugh and Kenneth MacAskill founded the distillery in 1830 after a series of failed attempts. After purchasing the lease of Talisker House from Clan MacLeod, it came into service at Carbost in 1831. When she could produce 700 gallons a week she bought a company called R. Kemp & Co. in 1879 for £1,810 (the equivalent). from £195,800 in 2021). AG Allan, Procurator-Fiscal for Elginshire, was the lead partner. The other partner was Elgin wine merchant Roderick Kemp.
