Signatory Vintage

Signatory Vintage is one of Scotland's most renowned independent bottlers. Based in picturesque Pitlochry, on the edge of the Highlands , the company has made a name for itself as an independent bottler. Signatory purchases casks from various Scottish distilleries and stores them in its own warehouses. The key advantage? Signatory can determine the optimal bottling time itself. With over 10,000 whisky casks in stock, its warehouses contain true liquid treasures.

Founded in 1988 in Leith, Signatory oversees and controls the maturation of its Scotch whiskies entirely in-house. High quality standards are paramount.

Whisky is more than just a drink; it's a passion, a journey full of flavor and tradition. For true connoisseurs and collectors, the world of independent bottling offers a special fascination—and that's where Signatory Vintage comes in. This blog post gives you an in-depth look into the world of Signatory Vintage, the brand's history, its distinctive features, and much more.

The history and philosophy of Signatory Vintage

Signatory Vintage was founded in 1988 by Andrew Symington, a former manager ofEdradourDistillery. From the very beginning, the company pursued a clear goal: to find exceptional whiskies from independent distilleries and bottle them in limited quantities. Signatory Vintage's philosophy is based on transparency, quality, and respect for the craft of distilling.

Andrew and his team pay utmost attention to detail. Each bottle bears comprehensive information about the cask, bottling time, and even the production method. This transparency makes Signatory Vintage a brand trusted by whisky lovers around the world.

The highly successful 100 Proof series began in 2024. Now you can get top-quality whiskies at 57.1% for around €50. Many thanks to Andrew and Signatory Vintage!

What makes Signatory Vintage unique as an independent bottler

Independent bottlers like Signatory Vintage play a vital role in the whisky world. Unlike major brand bottlers, Signatory purchases casks directly from distilleries and releases them with their own signature. This creates authentic and often unusual flavor profiles that delight whisky lovers.

A key difference is that Signatory Vintage uses no added coloring and avoids cold filtration. This ensures that the final product remains as close as possible to the original barrel aging.

Unique features of Signatory Vintage:

  • Focus on single cask releases
  • Use of high-quality barrels, including sherry, bourbon and wine barrels
  • Limited and numbered series for collectors
