Stauning 6 years of The Liquid Madness
The Stauning 6 Years is an unpeated single malt whiskey that has received an exceptional finish after maturing for four years in a first fill ex-bourbon cask. The Liquid Madness, a trio of whiskey experimenters, previously smoked the barrel in which the whiskey would mature for another two years with Danish heather. The result is an intense and unique taste that impresses with the perfect interplay of the different aromas.
The Virgin Oak Barrel made from American white oak was smoked for 24 hours with the extremely aromatic heather to bring a special, spicy, earthy smokiness to the distillate. In contrast to conventional smoky single malts, where the smoke aroma comes from the peat fire, here the Danish heather is used to refine the distillate. The smoked white oak complemented the fruity and spicy notes that the Bourbon Cask brought with it.
