Port Askaig 8 Year Old is an outstanding single malt whisky that embodies the essence of the Isle of Islay in every sip. This whisky is made from carefully selected casks from a secret distillery on the island, although bottling may vary from batch to batch. The 8 year maturation takes place in a variety of casks including Bourbon Barrels, Toasted American Oak Barrels, Sherry Butts, Refill Hogsheads and American Oak Casks, resulting in a harmonious complexity of flavours.
A seductive bouquet of fresh and floral notes unfolds on the nose, accompanied by a gentle sweetness reminiscent of dried fruit. The taste is full-bodied and rich, with hints of vanilla, caramel and a fine smokiness that is typical of the region's whiskies. Citrus fruits and spicy elements round off the taste experience and ensure a balanced finish that lingers in the mouth for a long time.
