Pittyvaich 29 years
This small batch of 1989 Pittyvaich whiskey is the first release to be double aged in Pedro Ximenez and Oloroso casks. These have given the light, golden aroma and taste of the distillery character an exotic, rich and fruity depth. Pittyvaich was a "ghost" distillery, operating for just 18 years before falling victim to industry consolidation in 1993. Today, Pittyvaich is as seldom seen as the elusive capercaillie in the Scottish pine forests.
Tasting Notes:
The scent is soft and delicate, with a subtle fruitiness and dried flowers, including hints of buttery dough. The texture is ultra-smooth and the flavor is rich with the sweetness of dried fruits like golden sultanas. With the aroma of black tea, it becomes spicy and overall rather dry on the finish. The long, smooth finish concludes with a hint of powdered ginger.
