The Isle of Raasay 2019/2024 First Fill Red Wine Cask – Peated is an outstanding representative of the Hebridean Single Malt Scotch whiskies that takes the senses on an incomparable journey. This whisky was distilled in 2019 and matured for five years in a first-fill Bordeaux -Red wine cask. With a high alcohol content of 59.9% vol. and at cask strength, this single malt is presented in its purest form, without coloring and without chill filtration.
The distillery originates from the impressive Isle of Raasay, an island off the west coast of Scotland, known for its rugged yet fascinating landscapes. The use of first-fill barrels from the renowned châteaus in southwest France gives this whisky a special depth and complexity.
Aromas of rich wood smoke envelop the nose and are complemented by luscious notes of dark fruits such as blackberries and plums. These fruity tones interact harmoniously with a hint of BBQ ribs, creating a sweet and smoky combination reminiscent of balmy barbecues. There are also maritime touches that round off the flavor profile and remind us of the proximity of the sea that surrounds the Isle of Raasay.
