For moments that call for a characterful companion, a single malt that marries the maritime wildness of the Orkney Islands with the opulent sweetness of the south is an excellent choice. A play of dark fruit and fine smoke. In the glass, the whisky presents itself in a warm honey tone, which awakens visual anticipation of its dense aroma. The Highland Park distillery is at the heart of this bottling.
Cask Maturation and Origin
This Whitlaw from Signatory Vintage is a prime example of how a precise finish can emphasize the original complexity of a distillate without denying its origin. Island distillate meets Andalusian cask maturation. The roots of this whisky lie in the renowned Highland Park Distillery, where it was distilled in 2018. Signatory Vintage's craftsmanship is evident here in the conscious decision to forgo chill filtration and colorants in order to preserve the pure essence of the malt in its original form.
Aroma
The nose is greeted by intense notes of dark fruits such as raisins and dates, harmoniously interwoven with a subtle, spicy smoky note. On the palate, there is an almost syrupy texture, characterized by caramel and a malty depth, culminating in a long-lasting, sweet-spicy finish with hints of dried fruits.
