The ElsBurn The Wayfare Batch 003 is an exceptional single malt whiskey that benefits from the extensive variety of casks. The components of this limited edition whiskey have interacted with the wood for up to eleven years and are aged 50 percent in Sherry hogsheads and a further 50 percent in Port, Marsala, Malaga and Grand Cru Claret hogsheads.
Older and stronger than ever, this whiskey offers a complex array of flavors. A rich bouquet of fruitcake, sweet berries, speculoos and caramel cream unfolds on the nose. A character full of raisin biscuits, candied fruit, spicy oak and light chocolate gradually reveals itself. The Hercynian Single Malt Whiskey has a medium-long finish, and will remain in the memory of the whiskey connoisseur for a long time.
Tasting Notes:
Nose: The first nose begins with lush fruitcake and baked raisins - at the same time, the strong cask strength is discreetly noticeable. After that, notes of wintry dessert gain strength: sweet berries, speculoos and light caramel cream. The finish is followed by moderate oak and subtle hints of salt, pecan and mocha.
Palate: Powerful but approachable and more velvety than expected. Notes of raisin biscuits with meringue and sweet grapes initially dominate, while fine candied fruits gain strength. This is followed by subtle oak aromas, light chocolate and a handy (spiciness) spiciness. Towards the end, fine vanilla and crisp notes of caramel blossom.
Aftertaste: The complex taste lasts for a medium length and exudes its charm even after a few minutes.
