Chichibu The Peated
In 2007, Ichiro Akuto, grandson of the founder of Hanyu Distillery, began writing a new chapter in Japan's whiskey history by building Chichibu Distillery. The production facility is located in Saitama Prefecture, about 70 km north-west of Tokyo, and was put into operation in February 2008. Furnishings include a small mill, mash tun, Japanese oak (Mizunara) fermentation vats and a pair of small copper pot-stills made by Forsyths in Rothes, Scotland . A truly unique jewel of Japanese whiskey tradition!
