The Bruichladdich 14 Years Rivesaltes Barrique, bottled by the Whisky Agency in collaboration with Delias Whiskyshop, presents itself as an outstanding example of Scottish craftsmanship on the picturesque island of Islay. This limited single cask bottling, distilled in 2010 and bottled in 2024, impresses with careful cask maturation in a Rivesaltes barrique. With an alcohol content of 50.9%, this single malt whisky unfolds an impressive aroma and depth that delights lovers and connoisseurs alike.
The nose immediately reveals an impressive play of aromas that fills the room with intense scents. A perfect "Christmas nose" unfolds, in which the aromas of juicy raisins unfold harmoniously. Accompanied by a hint of cinnamon, the whisky unfolds a mixture of typical Christmas spices that evoke memories of festive delights. Over time, sweet caramel and toffee notes join in, while gentle espresso notes round off the olfactory impression. The roundness and complexity of the nose suggest that this whisky is older than the stated 14 years.
The taste of the Bruichladdich 14 years is a real feast for the palate. The raisins come to the fore again and blend with the aromas of ripe plums and a hint of cinnamon, which underlines the complexity of the whisky. The espresso on the nose develops into an intense coffee note that rounds off and refines the taste experience.
