Balvenie 27 years
Balvenie is very proud of her latest rare discovery: A Rare Discovery From Distant Shores. After 27 years of aging, this single malt whiskey has been transferred to ex-caroni rum casks for the last seven years - a perfect combination that came about only by chance and Bristol Spirits head distiller David Stewart! The 48% ABV whiskey is a product that honors both their friendship and the legacy of the long-closed Trinidadian distillery, Caroni.
After a fateful meeting between Balvenie 's David Stewart and Bristol Spirits' John Barrett in 2009, the one-of-a-kind collection 'A Rare Discovery of Distant Shores' was born. After discovering the amazing character of some of the Caroni rums from Trinidad that John Barrett had sourced since 2003, the decision was made to refine the 20 year old Balvenie with these casks. The result is a remarkable blend of muscovado sugar, syrupy toffee and the classic honeyed fruits of the Balvenie malts - truly something special!
