Ardbeg An Oa
Ardbeg An Oa is a unique whiskey creation inspired by the harsh weather and topography of the Scottish island of Islay. The Ardbeg distillery is in a particularly exposed location and regularly has to deal with strong winds, rain and wafts of fog. But the location of the distillery behind the Mull of Oa, a circular peninsula in the south of Islay, protects it from the harshest rigors of the Atlantic.
This harsh but inspiring environment forms the backdrop to the making of Ardbeg An Oa. This unique whiskey is created by combining whiskeys from different cask types, including Pedro Ximenez, new oak and ex-bourbon casks. These different tastes are then brought together in the so-called "Gathering Vat" and can get to know each other there.
