Old Sajous Rum
The Italian importer Velier is known in the rum scene as a pioneer for authentic experiences. The company, managed by industry giant Luca Gargano, was also the “first mover” when it came to clairin: the Italians were the first to bottle the locally produced rum from Haiti. Traditionally, the sugar cane spirits are not allowed to age. Typically Velier, however, they have already successfully experimented with maturation, for example when bottling Vieux Sajous. Now follows a new, sherry cask matured bottling of the young series.
Michel Sajous from Saint Michel de l'Attalaye distilled the basis for Vieux Sajous 4 yo - Lustau Oloroso Casks in the Clairin way. Its basis: organically grown sugar cane of the old Cristalline variety. The distillate made from freshly squeezed juice matured tropically in premium sherry casks from the renowned Bodega Lustau. After four years, the rum is a pleasurable hike between the worlds of Clairin and rum with particularly delicate, complex aromas.
