THE CASKHOUND alias Tilo Schnabel presents the second bottling of his limited ANIMALS OF SCOTLAND series. This time the Scottish Highlands take us on a journey of taste: Powerful, full of character and incredibly drinkable, the 13-year-old TEANINICH, matured in a noble red wine barrique, reveals the spirit of the “Highland Stag” on the bottle label.
A Highland gentleman with a fruity heart
The TEANINICH DISTILLERY near Alness in the Northern Highlands is an important member of the Diageo family and mainly produces whisky for their blends. Although single cask bottlings were rare at first, the single malt is becoming increasingly popular thanks to its versatility. The characteristic TEANINICH impresses with its maltiness, exotic notes of Japanese green tea and bison grass, as well as a distinctly oily texture that continues to be evident even after maturing in first-fill red wine barriques. This "Highland Laird" impresses on the palate with a finely balanced combination of classic wine aromas, lush fruit and spice notes, creamy chocolate and delicate tannins.
