Starward Fortis Batch 6
They mature Fortis in 100% American oak casks to give it a full, rich flavor and enhance the whiskey's toasted oak and vanilla character. Fortis also boasts succulent red wine characteristics thanks to casks from mostly Barossa Valley wineries that once held bold Shiraz and Cabernets. Some casks are charred for complexity, most are fresh, giving Fortis the intense red wine flavors that seeped into the staves. They don't filter this stronger version to accurately represent the whiskey coming out of the cask.
A rich, full-bodied flavor balanced with the accessible velvety smoothness that Starward whiskeys are known for. Expect notes of Madagascan vanilla bean and toasted oak in the foreground. The palate is all chocolate ganache, cinnamon, quince and muscadelle raisins with a lingering, baking-spicy finish.
