Scotch Universe Mars IV 15 years
This single malt Scotch whiskey matured in first fill Oloroso Sherry Butt for 15 years until it was bottled by Scotch Universe in 2022 at cask strength 55.3%. This whiskey was distilled by a distillery that has been at home on the Scottish Orkney Islands since 1798. (distillery probably Highland Park)
Tasting Notes
Nose: Dark sweetness and fine heather, with very subtle smoke, with slightly maritime, iodine-containing, mineral hints as well as strawberries from the rum pot and nuts.
Palate: Creamy and soft with nuts and a hint of iodine. Then becoming more fruity with fruit from the rum pot, which progresses to heather and mineral notes. Becoming more maritime again and towards the end a fine but slightly stronger note of peat smoke than in the nose.
aftertaste: Long, very varied and almost filigree.
