Whiskey is religion! The first Scottish and Irish settlers in the USA used rye to distill their whiskey because barley didn't cope with the North American climate as they had hoped. The same climatic conditions apply to Australia. Therefore, the original spirit of the early settlers was revived with the first Australian rye whiskey. The rye for The Gospel Straight Rye Whiskey comes 100% from a farm in the Murray Mallee in southeastern Australia. This region is one of the driest growing areas on the driest continent in the world: Australia.
The flavor profile of Straight Rye Whiskey benefits from the rough, difficult soil and the climate in which the rye was grown. The year-round sunshine gives the rye an intensity and variety of flavors that is second to none. After double distillation, the whiskey is aged for at least three years in new, heavily charred American white oak barrels from Missouri. There is no cold filtration and no coloring is added. Aroma/Taste: The rye from the Murray Mallee gives the whiskey a burst of rye flavors. The first sip is a sweet note of allspice, followed by cloves, dried red fruits, and a pleasant caramel note on the finish. This whiskey is perfect for cocktails like the Manhattan, Old Fashioned, and Sazerac. It is also a true delight simply as a highball with a premium ginger ale.
