RA Trinidad Ten Cane Rum
From 2005 - 2015 LVMH operated the Ten Cane Distillery on the premises of Trinidad Distillers Ltd. and released their own rum, Ten Cane. However, it did not achieve the level of popularity and was no longer produced after about 10 years. However, barrels from the 2008 vintage are gradually coming onto the market. So also this rum distilled from sugar cane juice and in a pot still.
Immediately after pouring, I say "Wow". What a nose. A little smoke, dark chocolate, some wood, some glue, leather, plum and cherry. After half an hour more dough is added and the cherry is omnipresent. The mouthfeel is great and the alcohol is well integrated. There were bottlings where the alcohol was not so well integrated. In the mouth, a highly concentrated structure, where there is also some tar and "bike tires" added, giving it a "dirty" touch. "I love it"! This little jewel stays with you for a long time, and always the cherry.
