Octomore 13.2
The antique Oloroso casks take this Octomore Whiskey in a whole new direction. Delicate aromas of smoke and nutty citrus contradict the intense depth of flavor on the palate, with the high-contrast combination working beautifully.
Tasting Notes
Nose: This highly aromatic whiskey opens with a nutty, salty smoke with milk chocolate and leathery tobacco. The Oloroso casks have imprinted this whiskey with rich syrupy orange and grapefruit citrus, as well as hints of clove and cinnamon with walnut and praline. As it opens further, brown sugar, raisins, dried apple, melon and ripe pears emerge, with smooth peat smoke beautifully interwoven.
Palate: The palate shows a wonderful viscosity and presence. Notes of smoked nuts and leather, warm orange marmalade on fresh scones. Dried apricot and a hint of peppery spices on the finish.
Finish: Over time, earthy peat smoke emerges, along with the fruity and nutty flavors of the Oloroso casks. A salty touch of sea breeze creates a vibrant combination of flavors to finish .
