Ocho Tequila Reposado
The Ocho Tequila Reposado is an artisanal tequila made from the hearts of fully ripe agaves. These take seven to ten years to reach their full size and maturity before they are hand-harvested by experienced harvesters. The agave hearts, also known as "piñas", are then cooked in a special oven at a temperature of 80 to 85 degrees Celsius for around 48 hours to develop their full aroma and the desired color.
After the cooking process, the agave hearts are left in the oven for another 24 hours to cool slowly. They are then pressed and the juice is mixed with spring water to create a harmonious blend. The fermentation lasts up to five days and ensures that the aromas and flavors can develop perfectly.
Distillation takes place in two passes in special pot stills to achieve maximum aroma diversity. The tequila is then stored in used whiskey barrels for eight weeks and eight days to develop its smooth structure and harmonious taste.
When tasting the Ocho Tequila Reposado, the connoisseur will discover intense spicy and nutty notes, accompanied by a hint of roasted coconut, raw hazelnuts, menthol, allspice, cinnamon, molasses and caramel. The taste is characterized by a pleasant spiciness, accompanied by aromas of white pepper, earth, leather, tannin, burnt orange zest, salty caramel and cocoa. A unique tequila that impresses with its artisanal production and its taste refinement.
