Mhoba Rum 2021/2025 Many Faces Of Rum Whiskey Jury
The Mhoba 2021 (2020-2025) 2nd Fill Bourbon Barrel, bottled for "The Whisky Jury," is an exceptional rum from South Africa, selected by The Whisky Jury. Produced at the Mhoba Distillery in Malalane, Mpumalanga Province, this rum is based on fresh sugarcane juice and is made using the high-ester, agricole style with wild fermentation. Distilled in December 2020 and bottled in October 2025, it matured entirely under tropical conditions in a second-fill bourbon barrel (#BC6). With an alcohol content of 59.5% and a limited edition of only 137 bottles, this rum is a true highlight for connoisseurs.
The Whisky Jury describes this rum as fiery, funky, and complex, with a distinct presence of active wood that doesn't overpower the distillate's character. It's definitely not for the faint of heart! The Mhoba distillery, which has been making waves for several years, is featured for the first time in "The Many Faces of Rum" series. This rum proves it can easily compete with the best Jamaican rums.
