CLYNELISH has long held cult status among whisky connoisseurs.
This unmistakable character with beeswax, a creamy, oily texture, bright fruits, and maritime salty notes – they arise from long fermentation and slow distillation high up on the coast of Sutherland – and cannot be replicated anywhere else.
The fact that casks of this Highland classic have only recently become accessible again to independent bottlers makes every single cask a small rarity.
Our CLYNELISH spent its entire twelve-year maturation period in a New Wood Hogshead – no finish, no intermediate step, just new wood from the start. The Virgin Oak Cask brings what it has: vanilla, cinnamon bark, warming spice. The spirit counters: wax, heather honey, and ripe fruit assert themselves, not retreating – they blend in. Unfiltered, bottled at natural strength, the Highlander shows exactly that: a character that cannot be bent.
