This 1995 Clarendon has 23 years of tropical maturation and 3 years of continental maturation and was bottled in February 2022. Bottled by Precious Liquors for The Auld Alliance Singapore.
Tasting note:
Nose: Sour pineapple and lime syrup, with grapefruit. Also beeswax, leaf notes, soy sauce and liquorice. Still a firm wood note and a hint of acetone. After a while, mango and eucalyptus appear - nice combination.
Mouth: Obviously richer and more concentrated than the 2007. Menthol, liquorice and tar notes, with hints of pink grapefruit, guava and pineapple in between. Then bramble, hints of Armagnac, eucalyptus, black tea, pine wood and bittersweet herbal extracts.
Finish: very long, slightly petroly, with salty notes and tropical fruits.
This is quite impressive. This complexity will keep you entertained all evening long! Powerful rum, enhanced by active wood, but it is the tropical fruits that make it shine. Very nice. Score: 92/100
