Chateau Ste Michelle Canoe Ridge Estate Merlot
The Chateau Ste Michelle Canoe Ridge Estate Merlot embodies the outstanding characteristics of the Canoe Ridge vineyard, which is known for its warm climatic conditions and offers optimal conditions for the production of first-class red wines. The careful hand-picking of the grapes ensures that only the best fruits are used for this Merlot is selected. After the harvest, the grapes are destemmed, followed by a controlled fermentation on the skins, which intensifies the character and aromas of the grapes.
The subsequent maturation in predominantly new French oak barrels extends over a period of 18 months. During this time, a complex aroma develops, which elevates the Merlot to a perfect pleasure. The honest influences of the wood bring harmonious nuances of fine spice, smokiness as well as tobacco and wood notes in the wine.
In the glass, the Merlot presents itself in a deep, intense red, which is interspersed with lively, bright reflections. The church windows that form on the edge of the glass testify to the density and structure of the wine. The bouquet is dominated by ripe fruit notes that are reminiscent of red berries and sweet cherries. This fruity freshness is complemented by the complex wood notes, which unfold in a wonderful interplay.
On the palate, the Merlot unfolds its full power and leaves a long-lasting impression that feels smooth and pleasant. The tannins are well integrated and give the wine a remarkable elegance.
