Chartreuse Yellow
Chartreuse Jaune is a traditional herbal liqueur that has been produced by the Carthusian monks in France since 1840. This yellow liqueur is based on the Elixier Végétal recipe and is characterized by its sweet and mild nature and its characteristic yellow color, which comes from saffron. With an alcohol content of 43%, Chartreuse Jaune is less strong than the green variant.
The taste of Chartreuse Jaune is complex and aromatic, characterized by notes of turmeric, citrus and anise, complemented by floral nuances. The production process takes several weeks and involves various stages, including grinding the plants, distillation to extract the aroma and various macerations that give the liqueur its natural color. The liqueur is then aged for a long time in oak barrels before being bottled, which further develops its complexity.
Chartreuse Jaune is excellent as a digestif and is ideally served chilled between 12°C and 13°C, but can also be used as an ingredient in cocktails to give them a subtle and smooth note.
