Ardbeg Traigh Bhan 19 Years Batch 4
Matured in a slightly higher proportion of Oloroso sherry casks, this sublime 19-year-old whiskey is the epitome of aged Ardbeg. Part of a highly sought after and collectable Ardbeg series, Batch 4 is the latest bottling. This sublime Traigh Bhan, like the bottles before it, is inspired by Islay's Strand Traigh Bhan Strand.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Aromas of herbs, pine and fennel that fade into bold notes of lime sorbet and throat lozenges, while eucalyptus and saddle soap follow. A splash of water opens a burst of hazelnut, sweet vanilla and currant before plenty of mint chocolate wraps around the nose.
Palate: An intense wave of wood smoke with some dark chocolate and ground coffee. Sweet notes of lemon cream and peanut brittle break through the surf with some raisin toffee and hazelnut. The magic of this rare dram continues with medicinal, spicy notes: menthol, lemongrass, aniseed, cloves and white pepper emerge from a powerful, smoky depth.
Finish: Sweetness and peat smoke slosh together with creamy vanilla toffee, dark cocoa and a warm, woody note of clove. A strong, intense and pleasantly long aftertaste.
