1770 Glasgow Limited Edition
Glasgow is more than just Scotland's largest city. After difficult times in the 1970s and 80s, the Lowland metropolis is now thriving with a vibrant food scene, legendary live music, art, and architecture. A can-do attitude and innovation are among the defining characteristics of Glaswegians. Equipped with this spirit, some of them took on the challenge of bringing the production of single malt Scotch whisky back to the city after more than 100 years. As The Glasgow Distillery Company, they have been writing a new chapter in Glasgow's whisky history since 2014.
The distillery's success in this area is evident in its diverse and award-winning standard range, as well as its complex single casks. The latest example is the Glasgow 1770 Limited Edition Release from a first-fill Marsala cask. Unusually for the Lowlands, the Glasgow Distillery produces single malt from peated malt. For this exclusive bottling, the whisky matured in a cask previously used for Sicilian dessert wine. The result, at a robust 61.5% ABV cask strength, is sweet smoke, dark cherries, plum, and spices. The elegant, embossed metal label provides discerning connoisseurs with all the details of the bottling, including the individual bottle number. The beautifully shaped clear glass bottle is presented in an equally attractive gift box.
