Collection: Ardnahoe

Discover Ardnahoe Distillery, named after its stunning surroundings. ‘Ardnahoe’ means ‘height of the hollow’ in Scottish Gaelic and captures the essence of this picturesque distillery site.
With a strong love for Islay and a passion for distinctive peated whiskies, there was no doubt that the magical whisky island had to be the location for the Ardnahoe Distillery. In 2015, the Laing family discovered the perfect 4-hectare plot on Loch Ardnahoe in the north-east of the island with access to the loch's deep waters. After acquiring the plot and obtaining planning permission, the foundation stone for the ninth distillery on Islay was laid in late 2016.
The first distillation runs began in October 2018, with cask number 001 being filled on November 9 of the same year. This was the realisation of a dream and the start of an exciting journey. Ardnahoe Distillery now produces its own unique spirit with the aim of creating a rich and fruity single malt Scotch whisky that embodies the character of Islay.
One of the distinguishing features of the Ardnahoe Distillery is its traditional approach to whisky making. The distillery uses copper stills from Forsyths, one of Scotland's oldest and most respected coppersmiths. These stills are designed to produce a heavier spirit, which is then matured in ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks sourced from some of the finest cooperages in the world.
The long-awaited inaugural release of Ardnahoe will finally be released soon.

The founding of Ardnahoe

In 2013, Stewart Laing and his sons Andrew and Scott Hunter founded Laing & Co. Ltd in Glasgow to create their own Scotch whisky. With a family history in the whisky business stretching back to the 1940s, extensive industry experience spanning over 50 years and carefully curated whisky stocks from across Scotland acquired over six decades, they had a solid foundation to realise their long-held dream of producing their own whisky.
Since its inception, Hunter Laing & Co. Ltd has grown to become a leading independent bottler of single malt Scotch whisky. The company prides itself on maintaining close relationships with distilleries across Scotland, enabling it to carefully select and bottle some of the finest and rarest whiskies available.

Experience the magic of Ardnahoe Whisky, made with water from the pristine Loch Ardnahoe, just a stone's throw from the distillery. This exceptional water source, filtered through peat and rock over thousands of years, brings a unique touch to every aspect of the whisky-making process. Step into a heavenly environment where nature works its magic and gives birth to a spirit with its own heart and soul.

Experience the unique taste of Islay in every drop of our spirit. We start with the malting barley to allow the seeds to germinate and release their sugar potential. The barley is then dried over peat smoke for 20 hours, giving it the distinctive smoky flavour.
The malted barley is then milled into 'grist' using the historic Vickers Boby-Mill, a piece of the past brought into the present at Ardnahoe Distillery. Join us on a journey from tradition to innovation as we craft spirits for the future.
