Glen Scotia 12 years The Mermaid

The Glen Scotia Icons of Campbeltown Realease No. 1: The Mermaid is a remarkable whiskey series whose selection and finishing is inspired by an individual symbol. The bottling consists of a subtropical, floral and delicate single malt whiskey with a maturation period of twelve years. Located on the coast, the Glen Scotia distillery is heavily influenced by the maritime climate. Mermaid sightings have been common along the coast in the past, causing excitement given the growing distilling industry in the 19th century.

To celebrate this first release from Icons of Campbeltown, the whiskey has been finished in rare Palo Cortado sherry casks. The barrels, which are at least ten years old, are known for their elegance and amber color and give the whiskey a wonderfully rounded taste. Finishing in these barrels gives the Glen Scotia Icons of Campbeltown Realease No. 1: The Mermaid a subtle but notable sweetness, delicate sherry flavors and remarkable depth.

Maritime salt crystals, boat varnish and edible seaweed can be detected in the aroma. A rich, fruity Tarte Tatin, Seville orange jam and tablet toffee round off the aroma.

The taste on the tongue is characterized by a creamy texture, refined by French apple tart aroma and a pinch of salt. The finish is long and a salty aroma remains, which is completed by a spicy note.

Overall, the first release in the Icons of Campbeltown series is a tribute to the maritime history of this Scottish region, marked by the presence of mermaids and the formative power of the sea. The fine and balanced balance of taste and aroma make the Glen Scotia Icons of Campbeltown Realease No. 1: The Mermaid is a remarkable whiskey that will surely find many lovers.
