Smoke Wagon Bourbon Whiskey
Smoke Wagon Straight Bourbon Whiskey has already made a name for itself, winning multiple awards at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition: Double Gold in 2020 and 2021, and Gold in 2022. This bourbon also impressed with a gold medal at the 2022 Ascot Awards.
Launched in fall 2019, the goal was to create an affordable, everyday bourbon that still delivers the unmistakable Smoke Wagon flavor. This is characterized by delicate sweet notes culminating in a spicy rye finish. The barrels, with the same high-rye mash bill, were stored on the top two floors of the warehouse and never rotated. Temperatures rise sharply on the higher floors in summer, resulting in more intense expansion and movement of the whiskey in the wood.
By avoiding chill filtration, the result is a bourbon that's rich and creamy, aging well beyond its years. The deliberate non-rotation of the barrels ensures that harsh tannins don't affect the flavor, while the high-rye mash bill adds a pleasantly spicy and nutty finish.
