Breton Single Malt for the Kirsch Anniversary
This eight-year-old Kornog was selected for the 50th anniversary of Kirsch Import. The French single malt comes from the 2017 vintage and was bottled in 2026 as a single cask bottling with a limited run of 175 bottles. Its profile combines peat smoke with the fruit and cocoa notes of sherry maturation.
Bourbon Cask and Long PX Maturation
The initial aging in an ex-bourbon cask was followed by a maturation period of more than six years in former Pedro Ximénez casks. The production process utilizes wooden washbacks, small onion-shaped, direct-fired alambics, and worm tub condensers.
It was bottled at cask strength with 56.9% ABV, without coloring and without chill filtration. In the glass, the whisky displays a warm copper hue.
Aromas and Taste
- Nose: Subtle peat smoke accompanies dark chocolate and candied orange.
- Palate: A powerful texture carries notes of cocoa and dried fruits. A fine iodine note complements the flavor profile.
