Sherry casks and Cognac as defining influences
In the GlenDronach House Editions Parisian Room, French Cognac casks complement the maturation in Pedro-Ximénez and Oloroso sherry casks. This single malt from the Scottish Highlands thereby combines distinct fruit notes with floral accents and nutty aromas. Master Blender Rachel Barrie is responsible for the composition.
This edition draws on the hospitality of the distillery's founder, James Allardice. Paris and the atmosphere of the 19th century provide the thematic framework.
The Aroma Profile
- Nose: Apple tarte tatin and plums accompany honey-sweet grapes. Elderflower provides a floral accent, nutmeg adds spicy warmth.
- Palate: Medjool dates and fig galette define the sweet fruit notes. These are accompanied by glazed walnuts, juicy peach, and a subtle rosé note.
- Finish: Aromas reminiscent of champagne truffles transition into a long, nutty-influenced finish.
Natural color and non-chill filtered
The non-peated Highland single malt is bottled at 49.0% ABV without coloring and without chill filtration. The 0.7-liter bottle comes in a gift box whose deep blue background and golden architectural motifs pick up on the Parisian theme.
