The Glenburgie distillery was founded in 1810 by William Paul under the name Kinflat Distillery, but it didn't officially begin production until 1829. Today, Glenburgie is primarily known as a key component of the famous Ballantine's and Teacher's blends. Occasionally, with a bit of luck, you can find a single cask bottling from independent bottlers. Gordon & MacPhail, a name synonymous with the highest quality for decades, bottles exceptional whiskies on behalf of distilleries and is highly regarded for its excellent releases.
A particular highlight is the Glenburgie 2004/2024, bottled by Gordon & MacPhail in their Connoisseurs Choice series. This 21-year-old single malt matured in a refill sherry hogshead (cask 881) and was bottled at cask strength (57.3% ABV) on September 1, 2025. The limited edition comprises only 243 bottles, making it a highly sought-after rarity. With its vintage character and the unmistakable signature of Gordon & MacPhail, this whisky is a must-have for lovers of exceptional single malts.
