The Bowmore 15 Year Old Darkest is an expressive single malt Scotch whisky from the legendary Islay distillery Bowmore. It owes its nickname "Darkest" to its intensive maturation: After initial storage in bourbon casks, it undergoes an extended finish in former Oloroso sherry casks, which gives it its deep dark color and particularly rich aroma.
On the nose, warm peat smoke, dark dried fruits, caramel, and roasted nuts intertwine. On the palate, the whisky reveals a harmonious blend of sweet sherry, dark chocolate, raisins, and a hint of cinnamon, accompanied by the typical Bowmore smokiness. The finish is long, spicy, and pleasantly smoky.
At 43% ABV and bottled in a 0.7-liter bottle, the Bowmore 15 Year Old Darkest is a complex yet accessible Islay whisky – ideal for lovers of smoky malts with a sweet and spicy depth.
