Mit Strong Characters Kapitel 2 widmet Laphroaig Dugald Johnston eine limitierte Edition. Er erbte die Destillerie 1847. Seine Geschichte begleitet diesen Whisky in Illustrationen von Bill Bragg und rückt die Menschen hinter der Brennerei in den Mittelpunkt.

Während seiner 35-jährigen Reifung lag der Whisky in Barrels und Hogsheads aus amerikanischer Eiche. Süße Gebäck- und Fruchtnoten treffen hier auf Rauch und Würze.

Verkostungsnotizen

  • Aroma: Auf einen süßen Auftakt folgen Eindrücke von ofenfrischem Gebäck. Apfel und Kirsche ergänzen das Bild und erinnern an Bakewell Tart oder Streuselkuchen.
  • Geschmack: Rauch und Würze prägen den ersten Eindruck. Am Gaumen wirkt der Whisky cremig, begleitet von zarten Rosinennoten und einer hintergründigen Wärme.
  • Abgang: Anis bleibt lange präsent. Ein pfeffriges Prickeln begleitet das Finale, bevor der Torfrauch allmählich wieder hervortritt.
