Virgin Oak Hogshead – when the oak still breathes stories. This Highland Single Malt matured for a decade in a Virgin Oak Hogshead, a cask made from unused oak that gives the whisky a particularly distinctive structure. The Clynelish distillery, known for its full-bodied, sweet-spicy malts, uses a rare maturation variant here: instead of used Bourbon or Sherry casks, the fresh oak imparts intense waxy honey notes, vanilla, and a spicy depth to the distillate.

Cask Maturation and Origin

Bottled at 57.8% vol. at cask strength, the character of the cask remains unadulterated – unfiltered and without added coloring.

Aromatics

Wax, honey, and the spice of untouched oak. In the glass, the whisky shines in a warm amber, hinting at the complexity of its contents. The nose is greeted by a creamy sweetness of honey and malt, accompanied by lively citrus notes and a hint of heather. On the palate, a spicy-sweet texture with candied ginger, dark berries, and roasted almonds, supported by the structuring oak.
