Chartreuse Élixier Végétal liqueur
Chartreuse Élixier Végétal is an exceptional herbal liqueur, the recipe of which is still known to this day only by a few Carthusian monks at the Grande Chartreuse monastery north of Grenoble. Since 1737, the elixir has been macerated and distilled using a unique method, using approximately 130 secret ingredients, including herbs, spices, and tree bark. Originally derived from a medieval manuscript, the monks perfected the recipe over 150 years until it took its final form in 1764 under the name "Plant Elixir of the Grande Chartreuse." During the cholera epidemic of 1832, it served as a widespread remedy and quickly gained popularity. This powerful elixir, now available exclusively in small 10cl bottles, is traditionally consumed in small quantities like medicine and impresses with its intense, herbal flavor.
