Even on the nose, there's an interplay of dense smoke and sweet fruitiness, with plenty of drive and tension. The Ballechin 2008/2026 is a single malt that impresses with its complex aromas and the combination of peat and port wine.

Cask Maturation and Origin

The bottling comes from the renowned Edradour Distillery, a small but exquisite representative of the Scottish Highlands. Distilled on July 25, 2008, this Ballechin matured for 17 years in a 1st Fill Ruby Port Hogshead. The cask imparts intense aromas, dark fruit, and noticeable port wine richness.

Aromatics

On the nose, there's a dense peat intensity, accompanied by ripe blackberries, dark cherries, and a hint of honey. On the palate, the full complexity of 57.9% Vol. unfolds, with the distinctive sweetness of the port wine harmoniously blending with notes of walnut and carbonized fruits. The long finish brings a spicy depth reminiscent of bittersweet chocolate and warm oak.
