This blended malt , which is said to be a teaspooned Glenglassaugh, was matured in a sherry puncheon for 15 years and bottled by the independent bottler The Caskhound without the addition of colourings and without chill filtration.
Nose:
Initially, the nose is fresh and slightly tart, carried by fine tartaric acid and a hint of orange oil. A waxy note emerges, followed by a gentle honey sweetness. With time, hay and delicate floral notes appear, then walnut and hazelnut. Dried apricots add depth, complemented by spicy accents, oatcakes, and a subtle touch of fudge.
Taste:
The texture is immediately striking: soft, oily, and yet powerfully spicy. Fig cream and Manuka honey add richness, while candied ginger provides freshness and vibrancy. Pickled peaches and date syrup deepen the fruitiness, accompanied by tobacco and a hint of raisin. Sweet malt binds everything together, and nutty chocolate and a touch of almond butter complete the picture.
Departure:
Towards the end, the whisky becomes calmer and warmer. Chocolate mousse and hints of Calvados apples give way to an increasingly dry spiciness. Apple seeds and orange zest add a tart accent before gentle, slightly dry oak notes conclude the finish.
