Description
The RumClub Private Selection Edition 65 is an exceptional single cask rum from the Trinidad Distillers Limited Distillery. Distilled in 2010, the rum matured for a total of 16 years in a former Bourbon cask made of American white oak. Of this, it spent 14 years under the tropical conditions of Trinidad before the cask was transferred to Europe, where the rum matured for another two years in a continental climate.
The nose reveals intense aromas of ripe tropical fruits, accompanied by vanilla, caramel, and fine Bourbon oak. Candied citrus fruits, roasted nuts, and subtle spice notes complement the complex profile.
On the palate, the rum is powerful and dense. Vanilla, caramel, and exotic fruits meet spicy oak, dark chocolate, leather, and fresh mint. Despite its natural cask strength of 68% Vol., the alcohol is exceptionally well integrated and carries the complex aromas through to the long finish.
The finish is warming and intense, with dark chocolate, oak spice, and a lingering sweetness. After some rest in the glass, the rum opens up further, revealing additional facets. The bottling was done without additives and is limited to only 395 bottles.
