All Lost Shiraz 2022
The Shiraz grape variety, also known as Syrah, is considered the star grape of the northern Rhône, where it is predominantly cultivated as a single varietal. It produces red wines that impress with opulent blackberry aromas, subtle spice, and a delicate freshness. The vines thrive on clay-slate soils with large clay indentations, providing ideal conditions for this grape variety.
Allesverloren Wine Estate, located about 100 kilometers northeast of Cape Town, lies on the southeastern slopes of Kasteelberg and is the only winery in the Swartland region. The name "Allesverloren" (meaning "lost everything") dates back to 1806, when the farm of the then-owner burned down, leaving him literally "lost everything." The estate's vineyards stretch from 170 to 370 meters above sea level. Great care is taken with the canopy management and the optimal orientation of the vine rows. In the cellar, Danie Malan ensures that the varietal aromas of the wines are expressed to their fullest potential.
The wine presents itself in a deep ruby red with violet reflections. Its bouquet delights with opulent aromas of blackberries, cassis, and blueberries, complemented by delicate notes of chocolate, vanilla, and wood. On the palate, it is elegant, with well-structured tannins, a persistent finish, and a balanced character. A wine that impresses with its depth and refinement.
