Westland American Oak

Characteristics For the production of American Oak, 5 different types of grain are used, Washington Select Pale Malt, Munich Malt, extra special malt, light chocolate malt and brown malt. By maturing in both Select and Reserve New American Oak casks, as well as ex-Bourbon casks as the first fill, a very well-developed single malt is created. The smell brings back childhood memories of fresh waffles and chocolate pudding. Fruity notes of cherries and bananas emerge on the palate, rounded off with aromas of chocolate, almonds and Turkish coffee.

Distillery The Westland distillery is located in Seattle, Washington USA. They made a conscious decision not to produce bourbon, but to go for the American Single Malt Whiskey category. They founded and lead the ASMW Commission, which currently includes 110 distilleries. Since its founding in January 2010, the distillery has placed the highest value on quality. Each single malt is made from 100% malted barley. The distillate is only distilled up to 80% vol. Only barrels with a maximum capacity of 700 liters are used for maturation.
