With the "III The Empress" bottling, the Saburomaru Distillery bridges Japanese craftsmanship with the rugged soul of Scotland, integrating the intensity of Islay peat into its profile for the first time. The Saburomaru distillery is at the heart of this bottling.
Cask Maturation and Origin
This single malt, distilled in 2020, marks a historical turning point: for the first time, malt with a phenol content of 50 ppm, kilned over Islay peat, was used.
Aroma
On the palate, the complexity of the three-year maturation is revealed: a malty sweetness meets roasted nuts and caramelized fruits, while a delicate oak spice and black pepper provide structure.
