Highland Park 11 Years 1997/2009 Old Malt Cask
This Highland Park belongs to the traditional series The Old Malt Cask, which was introduced in 1998 as a series of selected single cask bottlings. At the time of this bottling, the series was still with Douglas Laing. Characteristic of Old Malt Cask is the bottling at 50% vol. – a strength designed to preserve the individual cask character while ensuring good drinkability.
The single malt was distilled in September 1997 on the Orkney Islands and bottled in February 2009 after eleven years of maturation. It was aged in a refill hogshead with the reference DL 4927, from which only 324 bottles were produced. The whisky was neither chill-filtered nor colored. Thus, this rare bottling combines Highland Park, a single cask, and the classic concept of the early Old Malt Cask series.
