Emperor's Way: Peat Smoke and PX Sherry
This ten-year-old single malt from the Hammerschmiede distillery originates from Germany and was bottled for Whisky Live Germany. It is made from 100% malted barley and receives its sherry character from a finish in a Single PX Sherry Octave. The single cask bottling consists of a total of 60 bottles.
The small octave cask offers the whisky intense contact with the wood. In the aroma, powerful smoke combines with dark fruits and spicy accents. Emperor's Way was bottled at 55.7% ABV in cask strength, without chill filtration and without coloring.
Aromas and Flavor
- Nose: Distinct peat smoke, earthy hints, and a slight salty note accompany raisins, plums, and dark chocolate.
- Palate: An oily, full-bodied texture carries notes of malt, candied orange peel, and cocoa. Licorice adds a spicy accent.
- Finish: Long-lasting with sweetness, smoke, and an impression of a dry wood fire.
