As a heavily peated variant from Glenturret, this spirit was long reserved mainly for master blenders before it was allowed to prove its full independence as a single malt in this exclusive bottling. The name Ruadh Mhor – Gaelic for "Great Red" – refers to the distinctive peat note that characterizes this whisky and clearly sets it apart from the distillery's unpeated standards.
Cask Maturation and Origin
After 14 years of maturation in a classic Hogshead, cask no. A interplay of smoke and honey sweetness. The amber distillate presents itself with an impressive cask strength of 60.6% Vol., which transports the aromas unfiltered and unadulterated. Puristic enjoyment for connoisseurs. This whisky is aimed at lovers of intense, smoky profiles who appreciate the authenticity of a single cask bottling without chill filtration or colorants.
Aromatics
On the nose, a complex bouquet of earthy peat, damp fern, and singed herbs unfolds, underlaid by a subtle sweetness of wildflower honey and apple peels. On the palate, the intensity of charcoal and charred twigs emerges, which is harmoniously balanced by the soft, malty core of the single cask.
