Caol Ila 2006/2025 18 years SMoS

This single malt from the Scottish island of Islay combines maritime characteristics with the region's typical peat notes. The Caol Ila distillery on Islay's east coast produces whisky with a distinctive profile of smoke and sea air.

After 18 years of maturation in a refill hogshead, a balanced whisky with moderate peat intensity developed. The previously used cask #3073546 allowed for a gentler maturation, allowing the original distillate aromas to blend with subtle wood notes.

At 52.5% ABV, this whisky was bottled unfiltered and without coloring. This natural approach preserves all the flavor combinations from the long maturation period from August 2006 to April 2025. The golden color comes exclusively from the interaction with the oak.

Elixir Distillers produced only 271 bottles of this limited edition from the "Single Malts of Scotland" series. This bottling offers a rare opportunity to experience a mature Caol Ila in its natural form.
