This Blair Athol was distilled in the Scottish Highlands in 2011 and matured for a total of 14 years. A finish in a Viognier wine cask gives this single malt, selected by Berry Bros. & Rudd, a particularly fruity and aromatic character. Cask #308064 was bottled at a robust 56.9% vol. for "The Auld & The Bold" series. Only 264 bottles were produced in total.
The aroma combines tropical fruits and honey-sweet brioche with delicate floral notes and a subtly savoury accent. On the palate, the whisky is creamy and complex: coconut cream, apricot and barley sugar meet fresh mint, lemon curd and a pleasant waxy texture. The finish brings together candied ginger and toasted oak with a fine floral sweetness.
